The 2009 Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz is Scheduled For July 17, 18 & 19th
For all residents of the Central Connecticut area, or people who are interested in becoming residents of Central Connecticut, the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz is not to be missed. It has grown to be the largest free Jazz event in all of New England. For the past several years, attendance has averaged over 45,000 people during its three-day period. Now in its thirteenth year, the Festival is supported by the City of Hartford, the State of Connecticut grants, as well as small and medium-sized charitable gifts and donations from local foundations, businesses and corporations. The Festival is located at Bushnell Park, America’s oldest public park, which provides an amazing view of Hartford’s skyline and the Connecticut State Capitol building as a backdrop to the stage. The Festival boasts over 100 volunteers who donate their time to making it all happen. There are national and international mainstream acts, cutting-edge, traditional and contemporary Jazz performers as well as Jazz programs.
