In Meridian CT the Kidcity Children’s Museum and the Meriden Historical Museum can provide educational entertainment for an afternoon.

In Middletown CT, the Davison Art Center and another Kidcity Children’s Museum call this city home. In the surrounding area there is the Berlin CT Historical Society and the Thankful Arnold House in Haddam CT.

Of course all of these Central Connecticut museums plus the various art exhibits and art and craft fairs that travel through the Central CT area interject culture into the various towns.

Art Tatta can tell you more about Central Connecticut’s museum and art community. Art Tatta, a Central CT real estate agent, can be reached at 860-638-4221 or by visiting his website.

Since Yale University is one of the finest universities in our entire country, it is not surprising that it has taught some of the United State’s most elite actors, playwrights, artists, architects, musicians, composers and museum professionals. Some notable graduates that continue to succeed are Wendy Wasserstein, Meryl Streep, Richard Stoltzman, Maya Lin, Norman Foster and Chuck Close. With its two major art museums, highly successful repertory theatre, wonderful concert halls and highly respected Schools of Music, Drama, Art and Architecture there is more than enough to see and do.

This holiday celebration would not be complete without them, but there are ways to stay safe and have fun. Under State of Connecticut law, only sparklers and certain fountains are legal. A fountain is a stationary firework that releases a shower of sparks. You must be 16 or older to purchase them here. If you will be enjoying fireworks in your own backyard this year, it is a good idea to keep a bucket of water nearby. This is also helpful as a place to put used sparklers into, so they don’t end up on the ground potentially burning little feet.

Middletwon Fireworks Festival is being held this evening at dusk on the Municipal Building Lawn. Portland’s fireworks will be held on Saturday, July 18th at 9:15 p.m. on the Portland Fairgrounds. Wallingford’s fireworks will be held this Friday the 3rd of July at Dusk at the Sheehan High School.

For more information on Fireworks Safety go to the National Council On Fireworks Safety

A collaboration between Wesleyan University, the City of Middletown and the North End Action Team, this Arts Center is affiliated with the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, which is a nationwide association of non-profit community schools of art that was founded in 1937. It serves as a place for people from twenty-five surrounding towns to come and enjoy various events, exhibitions, classes and workshops. Opened in 2005, the Center is a three-story facility that boasts a sound recording studio, a dance and visual art performance studio, a couple of computer labs and a space that works beautifully for community get-togethers. Green Street Arts Center’s mission was based on the idea that the center would help revitalize Middletown’s North End, and by its popularity, I say it has succeeded!
